Man cave!
We finally got Brady his own little house! He absolutely loves it. It has a doorbell, mail box and even came with a phone. He now says 'ding dong' and will ring the door bell after. Nana got an envelope for the mailbox and it has to be folded in half to fit and since Brady doesn't quite understand that, he will try himself and then hands it to you to fold and he holds it that way to put it through, so cute. There is a table inside and he will bring his drink and snack in there and just hang out. He also likes to hang on the door..not sure what that is about just yet..

Brendan William!
has arrived! Brendan was born at 2:41am on Monday, April 18, 2011, weighing in at 7lb 14oz and 21 inches long!
It was a very pleasant labor and delivery and I am so very thankful for that!
A simple birth story started with contractions Saturday afternoon and they were coming once every 20 minutes and as close as 10 min apart. They stopped after I had napped but picked back up that night/early morning and were every 4-10 min apart but nothing consistent. Sunday morning (still no power due to the tornadoes), I had 'bloody show' and waited a bit since my contractions were close enough but I definitely knew this boy was coming. Labor and delivery only said to come in if I felt it was necessary or my contractions were 3 min apart...we went in anyway.
Walking into Womack...Brady is liking his new stroller. We had to buy this one last minute (days before) since we found out the adapter for the new BOB's don't come out until summer.
On the drive and walk up to the hospital, they were 4 min apart and consistent. They had me hooked up and in walks my Dr., I was so happy to see him especially since he was on shift that day! He checked me and I was 3cm and 50%. He sent me home for a few hours to walk and to come back after lunch to be checked again. Well, we didn't walk much but we did get some lunch. This was also the first time we had been able to see any of the destruction from the tornadoes. The picture doesn't tell anything but the tornado cross right over the highway we travel to leave post and did a lot of damage to the local neighborhoods. Other gates were closed and the local areas there were completely destroyed.
We got back to the house around 12:30pm and since we had power back on, we cleaned up a bit and I got to do my hair! I guess this is where I did some walking..contractions were getting closer and when they were consistently 3 min apart, we jumped in the car and headed to the hospital. We had also called both parents and told them baby was on his way and they should be too.
Around 2pm, I got checked and was 4cm and 75% effaced and was admitted!
The boys kept each other busy...
Playing cars
Snacking
Giggling
Dancing
Relaxing
More giggling
Trying to get Brady to sleep...he finally crashed right before I delivered and was back up again when they grandparents took him home until 4am!
Bernie caught a few naps too!
At 6pm, I was 6cm and 80-90% and asked for the epidural. My contractions were definitely still manageable but I knew that wouldn't last much longer. My Dr. and nurse both wanted me to wait longer since I was doing so well and was so relaxed but I just wasn't looking forward to any discomfort--things had been so nice this far along!
Epidural was in and we were smooth sailing from there. Texting away with my parents and updating everybody else..at this time my parents were probably still in Georgia because Nana had to make a stop at the condo (1hr away) before she made her way up to NC!! My dad slipped on that secret :) as Nana attempted to blame him and told me she would tell me about it later, haha.
At 10:30pm, I was a definite 7cm (says the Dr.) and 90% effaced.
I believe I was checked again in between this time and delivery but I am not positive..
What I could feel of the epidural on my right side began to wear off, so I got another dose and then the nurse had me lay on my sides to get baby to drop some more since he was still fairly high.
Nana and Grandpa arrived around 11:30 or so and now it was time to get this boy out..he so patiently waited for everybody to be at his debut--which is why Brendan, meaning 'prince', fits perfectly!
Around 1:30am, Dr confirmed that I was complete, complete! The tears began as we were about to meet our second son!
After about 4-5 sets of pushing, Brendan William was here!
and the first picture of both our boys!

Oh, hello there!
Where do I even begin?! It has been about 2 weeks since I last posted and there have been a lot of happenings...to say the least! This is going to be short and sweet and as you know, my 'spare' time can be over any second!
Starting off on a sad note, we had to put Dakota down on April 14th. I am not going to get into details since most of you who read this, already know what happened. She lived a great life and was a wonderful dog. She is definitely missed around the house and it just isn't the same without her. We still talk to her and about her each day and patiently waiting for her return back home. I am very fortunate to have been given the 'signs' from her and knew that she lived a full life which makes it somewhat easier to handle.
Her last day.
and the 3 of them..you can spot Brady in the middle of the bed.
the following day (Friday), Bernie's company had an Easter event and the FRG held the Easter egg hunt. Before we left for this event, I had my 38 week appointment and was checked for progress. I was 2cm and 25% effaced.
We had a good time and Bernie chased Brady around the entire time. I started cramping and not feeling good and it was my first signs of baby is on his way!
He did such a good job finding the eggs! We had to tell him to get 'ball' though :)
He did see the Easter bunny but those pictures are taken from my phone. He checked him out and but that was as close as he got. He had a bucket of lollipops next to him which didn't take Brady long to find and he took some for himself. He did return them and took some more back and finally settled with one...notice the blue lips!
Saturday, we got hit with the tornadoes and lost power around 4pm. Bernie got called into work since all of post lost power too. Besides having contractions on and off the entire day/night and no power...and Brady catching a cold, none of us got any sleep!
as for Sunday--that is for the next post! :)

Full Term!
We have had a busy week--Nana flew into town! Brady is loving every minute of it and so am I :)
Guess what! Baby boy is full term!---
Huge news this week: You're carrying a full-term baby! If you were to go into labor today, all systems would be a go. Woohoo! Even though you can't wait for the little bambino to quite literally rear his head, keep in mind that your bun benefits from every day in the oven. Other ticker-tape-worthy developments:
Baby's growth slows down dramatically this week, which is great news for your birth canal. His bones are still soft and pliable and will solidify after he's born. More great news for your birth canal.
So if he's all cooked and ready to go, what the heck is he still doing in there?! He's busy practicing for "life on the outside," working on his breathing, sucking, sleeping, gazing and peeing abilities. The only thing he can't practice yet is his ability to scream at the top of his lungs when he's hungry—but he'll do plenty of that in a few weeks.
At this point babies vary in size, but the average length is between 19 and 20 inches and most babies weigh approximately 6 pounds. About the size of an average largemouth bass caught in Minnesota by your cousin Earl.
Belly:
I had an appointment today and he is still measuring a week behind so the big question is do you think he will be able to match Brady's size? He is doing great though, we are just waiting for when he decides to join us!
The BIG brother in his new Red Sox t-shirt!
Sorry for the short post but I need to finish kicking Nana's butt in Scrabble :)

April!
Can you believe this month is finally here? I remember back in August thinking that April was so far away, we had so much time--it just came knocking on my back door! We will be welcoming our second son this month and Brady will be a BIG brother!!! I am not sure Brady has an idea what is happening but I don't have any worries about him and hopefully it will stay that way. They definitely already show that 'brotherly love'--Brady does anyway. He has given him a few unintentional kicks and jabs here and there and when Brady decides to rest on the belly, baby sends them right back!
We have been practicing him getting things for himself and finding his drink wherever he left it, which can be quite the mission some days. He has recently started resting his head on my chest for a little break. It is the sweetest thing in the world and melts my heart. As you know, he is one rowdy kid so this is very unusual. If you are lucky, he will give you a smooch too...he seems to save all of those for Daddy though. His newest word is 'bus' and it sounds like busssssss, it is adorable! He loves firetrucks and horses too. He will sometimes tell you what a horse says but is shy about it. He gives a little smirk when he knows and wants to say something but won't do it. He also has a fake laugh. He is growing way to fast for me these days but we are soaking up every minute!
Speaking of growing, his brother is doing just that!
Your baby continues to put on weight at about ½ pound each week. This layer of fat will help your baby regulate his body temperature after leaving your climate-controlled womb. In fact, your baby will be 15 percent fat at birth (and you ... well that's another story). Even in the womb, your baby can listen, feel, touch and see. The only thing separating him from living in the outside world is a little thing called the birth canal. Other highlights this week:
His gums are firm with ridges that look somewhat like teeth, though his actual pearly whites won't start breaking through until he's between three months and a year old.
Your baby has definite patterns of sleep and wakefulness—opening his eyes while awake and closing them while sleeping. Your baby will become alert and turn his head toward light and sound just as a newborn would—except when you put on that Celine Dion CD. Then the baby puts his hands up, turns away and gurgles, "Oh no you didn't!"
Your baby is now around 18½ inches long and nearly 6 pounds—just about as big as a breadbox!
No picture this time. I took one but it isn't very good and I haven't uploaded it to the computer yet.
